The Brown Hornets

"Coming Down Easy" is a track from Canadian blues rockers The Brown Hornets.

This was one of the first bands that I really discovered for myself and I certainly have not forgotten them. Singer Danny Walters performs with a vocal intensity which at times brings to mind Jim Morrison. With its high energy, this song could feel comfortable alongside the driving pace of Jeff Beck's "Rollin' & Tumblin'". Oh, and the solos aint so bad either. The song is availible on their myspace, http://www.myspace.com/thebrownhornets.

Dispatch, The Soulshake Express

First song is sorta reggae, but overall just a great single. Powerful lyrics set to great music. Open Up by Dispatch.

The second song today is by Soulshake Express. The guitar is reminiscent of Jimmy Page (at times), and the instruments are pretty intense. It's a bit on the heavier side of rock, but it's definitely worth it. I give you Little Lover.

Peter Bjorn and John

So all you're going to get from me is a lot of alternative. So for now I'm going to put up the title song of Writer's Block by Peter Bjorn and John. It's a really nice song, by a really indie band. These three guys are beaten down Swedes who are now on their third album and have translated into sixties derived folk-pop. The disc has attractive, simple melodies but I find that the real pull is in the details. There are nice keyboard parts and fine harmonies. And the songs just don't leave your head. Hope you folks have fun and I'll catch you next time.

P-FUNK

Parliament: Aqua Boogie (a Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)

How could I possibly try to start off FUNKY REHAB without some funk? This song perfectly fits my needs. Billy "bass" Nelson provides a funky bass riff. It also has Parliament's classic spacey voices. Be forewarned: you will feel funky. The song tells a story of a recurring P-funk character "Sir Nose D’Voidoffunk ", who is too cool to swim or dance. The citizens of Atlantis get Sir Nose to do the Aqua Boogie. Its all good fun off of the album "Motor Booty Affair".

The Hoosiers

Alright so let's see if this works. I'd like to start by welcoming anyone who will be viewing this blog and (hopefully) getting something out of it.
First bit:
Cops and Robbers by the Hoosiers

fun song. Sorta swing (instruments remind me of Stray Cats). As Jordan described it, "it's kinda like the fratellis without the...*silence and gesticulating*" A nice feel good song. Listen to the sample below or click on the name of the song above to get it for yourself.
